1. 1962 Archaeology of the Lava Butte Site, Deschutes County, Oregon.

Archaeological monograph published at Washington State University under the auspices of the National Science Foundation. A description and interpretation of the artifacts found at the site during the summer of 1961. This site was a known hunting site because the surrounding terrain formed a funnel like structure that concentrated the migrating herd animals through a narrow area.


2. 1976 - 1991 "The Geode" bulletin and "The Bellevue Rockhound" bulletin.

Edited these bulletins as well as wrote small articles that were included in them. "The Geode" is the bulletin of the Lakeside Gem and Mineral Club of Kennewick, Washington and "The Bellevue Rockhound" is the bulletin of the Bellevue Rock Club, Inc. Of Bellevue, Washington. These bulletins were recognized by the Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies and resulted in Dan being inducted into the "Bulletin Editors Hall of Fame" in 1995.


3. 1988 Beginning a Mineral Collection.

This is an article published in two parts by the Lapidary Journal (a magazine for jewelers, lapidaries, and rockhounds with worldwide circulation). The first part was published in December of 1988 and the second part in March of 1989. This article helps the beginning mineral collector with both technical and acquisition questions.


4. 1990 Sterling Silver Overlay.

This is an article written to provide beginning silversmiths with the knowledge of the "Overlay Process" for jewelry manufacture. It is the craft practiced by the Hopi Indians in there silverwork. This article was published in the Northwest Newsletter (The organ of the Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies) in 1991. It was recognized with a special award and trophy for "Best Contributing Editor".


5. 1993-1996 Lets Talk About xxxxxxxxxx.

This is a series of one page articles published in a variety of Gem and Mineral Club newsletters throughout the Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies. The articles cover the technical description of some popular collector minerals as well as locality information on them. The minerals covered in these articles are CALCITE, GALENA, SIDERITE, VANADANITE, VIVIANITE, WULFENITE, and ZOISITE.


6. 2000 Beginners Project in Silversmithing: Building a Cabochon Pendant

This is a video tape in the "Rare Gem Production - The Artisan Series" starring Dan Ice as the master silversmith and teaching the steps necessary to convert sterling silver sheet and wire into a piece of jewelry in which to mount a cabochon cut stone.
